Dane A. Wells

I’m a 24-year-old guy who was born in Los Angeles, California, but currently lives in Denver, Colorado. Always a doodler, I started painting passionately as a practical meditation while working on a Ph.D. in Sociology at UC Berkeley. I appreciate how my mind, body, and soul feel more free, connected, and progressive when expressing and stimulating emotions through colors and patterns. Generally, I enjoy combining a diversity of color and brush stroke techniques in order to create patterned yet abstract paintings that may come alive when a person looks at them directly or indirectly. Abstraction is my preferred method of choice because it can help one reflect thoughts through shifting perceptions of physical forms and reveal beauty in mystery. I hope that people continually discover new aspects within the abstraction when they observe my paintings, always viewing them differently than others might.

Perhaps this keeps the paintings unique, open to interpretation, and evolving in relation to one’s changing consciousness and/or perception. I look forward to learning and growing as a thankful and sharing global individual while honing communicative (even if subtlety so) technical skills as an artist. In the flow we know as we go…
